COMMON HVAC REPAIR SERVICES

  • Condenser Repair
  • Drain Line Repair
  • Refrigerant Leaks
  • Evaporator Coils

The condenser cabinet has the condenser coil, a compressor, a fan, and various other parts. The condenser coil can be made of copper tubing with aluminum fins or all-aluminum tubing.  The compressor is the heart of the system since it compresses the refrigerant and pumps it to a coil in the form of a hot gas.

Some common repairs with AC condensers include cleaning dirty fins, replacing parts such as the contactor, fan or compressor and faulty switches.

The drain line takes excess water that is caused from the condensation to be properly removed from your home.  If your drain line is clogged or otherwise obstructed then you could run into some serious problems depending on how your system is set up.  Typically, the drain line runs to one of your home drains like the nearby bathroom sink drain.  There is usually a back up in case that line gets clogged.  This could be a PVC drain line outside or you could have a shut off switch that turns your AC off.  This is desirable rather than water running into your ceiling space and causing a lot of water damage.

Cleaning out a drain line is typically easy if the clogged line can be flushed with a warm water and bleach solution.  Sometimes the clog is more difficult or you may have a damaged drain line.  In these cases, its best to get a trained HVAC technician to see the best solution to fix your problem.

Modern AC's are a closed system and should not be "consuming" refrigerant.  A properly maintained system will never need to be recharged with refrigerant.  If your HVAC system needs to have refrigerant added then most likely you have a leak and a licensed HVAC technician can determine where that leak is and fix it.

Sure, it may be cheaper to just add refrigerant but low refrigerant can lead to more expensive problems so its always a good idea to get the leak fixed.

The evaporator coil is one of the most important parts of your HVAC system.  If you notice that there is warm air coming from the vents, loud noises coming from the cooling system such as banging or hissing, or the air conditioner does not turn on, then you could have an issue with the evaporator coils.  They may be dirty or frozen.  Although there are some repairs that can be done on evaporator coils, most times if a leak or other defect is detected, your HVAC technician will recommend replacement.
