Finally cooler temperatures have arrived
After a record setting summer, cool weather has finally returned back to Spring, Texas. Although, this usually means a time when we see a steady decrease in air conditioning repair calls, we love this weather as much as anyone else. But there are some things to consider as the season changes. Being the good stewards of your comfort that makes us Majestic AC, we have a to-do list during these awesome weather days.
1. Get your furnace tuned-up
Now is a good time to schedule your gas furnace and heater check-up and tune-up. At Majestic AC, we perform a comprehensive check of your home heating system to ensure that its ready to go when the temperatures drop to an uncomfortable level. You will always get a dusty smell when you first crank up your heaters but let’s make sure its all running efficiently. It will save you money on utility bills as well as finding problems that could lead to expensive repairs if not taken care of.
2. Consider replacing your aging air conditioning system
We know it sounds counter-intuitive that you think about your air conditioner when the temperatures are in the 60s-70s but the HVAC industry has an off-season too. Many times, we will run great specials on replacing your aging system that doesn’t come around in the hot months when demand is high. So go enjoy this nice weather but if you have an AC system that is over 15 years old and seems to need repairs often, contact us to see if there is a promotional special on getting that thing replaced with a high efficiency system. Plus our installers definitely prefer installing systems in the fall and winter months.
3. Change your AC filter
You may already have a schedule for changing out your HVAC filter but if not, this is a good time to switch out all your filters if you haven’t thought about them for awhile. Clean air filters are the one best thing you can do to keep your HVAC system running smoothly. With the increase in pollen, dust and mold spores, your allergies will thank you for switching the air filters often.
4. Clean up debris around your outdoor units
It was record-setting heat this summer so you may not have gotten outside very much. The temperatures got so high, many experts warned of prolonged work outside. With the cooler weather, it may be a good time to go outside and ensure that debris and dirt has not accumulated on the outdoor condenser unit. Remove all the big debris and you can clean the fins with low pressure water hose. Be very careful not to damage those fins because they are integral to the working function of the system.
